Hosting a small, laid back Halloween party for the kids and their little friends is one of my favorite things I do each year. We’ve been doing it since Evie was one year old! It is a fun excuse to get your group together, show off the costumes, do some fun themed activities and eat way too many treats!
Before hosting any party, I usually break it down into 3 main categories- decor, food, and activities.  I am a list maker, so having buckets to separate my thoughts into is a must. Having 3 things to think about vs 100 is also a big win!

1. What Are Some Easy Decor Ideas to Decorate the Party?

One of the most ignored, but most important parts of your house, especially during Halloween, is your porch! Don’t ignore your porch! I love setting up a fun welcome area that greets my guests (and trick or treaters!) when they arrive at the party.

Pumpkins- all shapes, sizes, and colors, cornstalks (most grocery stores have these available to buy!), gourds, themed signs, even hay bales make for a darling patio!

Bonus! If you have a nice little set up, the porch is a perfect place for photo ops! Gotta love looking back at those costume pics! Here are a few of my porches I’ve done for past Halloween parties.

I am a big fan of banner and garlands. They are so readily available, affordable, and can be used year after year. Another bonus? They pack away super easily and are small when folded up so my husband can’t complain about them taking up too much attic space either! There are tons of tutorials online for making your own and lots of stores are carrying them now! I have DIY tutorials for 3 different garlands, as well as adorable purchase options available in the Halloween Celebration Guide!
I’m always a sucker for a centerpiece! My house has a very Farmhouse vibe to it, so a lot of my Halloween decor sort of follows that with the creams and galvanized.

On a large cake stand, I have this fun galvanized witch flying over these amazing sequin pumpkins! Would you believe that I DIYed these babies with my 4 year old daughter?? They are incredibly easy to make and I love the statement they make! You can have a lot of fun when making them too- use orange pumpkins with black glitter, or change up the glitter colors. How cute would rose gold be to mix in?

Here is a blog post I have (including a video!) on how to DIY these gold sequin pumpkins!

More decor ideas, including some insanely fun hanging witch hats for your porch are also included in the Halloween Celebration Guide!

2. What Fun Food and Themed Treats Can I Serve?

To the kids, it’s all about the treats! It’s Halloween, after all! Halloween is a super fun time to get creative with the food you serve! Think about what you can cut out with a pumpkin cookie cutter or what you can add edible googly eyes too! Instant and easy Halloween treat or food guaranteed to be a hit!

Below are some fun treat ideas, along with some lunch/dinner type foods, to serve at your next party. And if you aren’t having a party, these are all great for a fun family Halloween dinner!

Recipes and even more ideas for fun and easy to prep Halloween themed food and treat ideas can be found in your Halloween Celebration Guide!

3. What Activities or Games Should I Have For the Kids to Do?

I’m a big believer in an activity when you are having a party for kids…especially a party where treats and sugar are at an ultimate high like Halloween! I’ve done multiple activities based on the ages of my kids at the different Halloween parties, but below are a couple of my favorites!

The slime station was a MAJOR hit. It was fun watching each kiddo choose their slime color and then decorate their jars like monsters. A punchboard is also one of my FAVORITE activities for any party. Kids are obsessed with it, and they are beyond easy to make! All of the material lists, instructions for setting up and more examples are all outlined in the Halloween Celebration Guide!

Bonus points for activities that double as party favors, which these all do! Love when that happens!

I also love sensory bags filled with little Halloween themed trinkets, googly eyes and glitter! These are super easy and kids of all ages get mesmerized by poking, squishing and playing I spy with the bags!

Target usually always has themed Halloween games that are super fun and affordable.  My kids LOVE this witch hat ring toss game! (affiliate link). They love to play it while I’m making dinner so total mom win there!

Have a BLAST celebrating Halloween this year! Halloween is one of the most fun times to make new memories with your families. I have so many fun memories from my own childhood Halloweens and I love being able to share and help you make your own. Happy Halloween, friend!
